Intersection space
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005984
The region in the nuclear coordinate space where two or more potential energy surfaces of different electronic states meet or come very close. This area is where non-adiabatic transitions between electronic states are most probable. The geometry of this space dictates the efficiency and pathways of photochemical reactions.
