Landau-Zener model

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006434

A theoretical model describing the probability of a non-adiabatic transition between two electronic states as a system passes through a region where their potential energy surfaces approach each other. It quantifies the likelihood of a molecule switching from one electronic state to another during a collision or chemical reaction. The model is applicable when the energy surfaces cross or exhibit an avoided crossing.
