Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010401

A non-SI unit of exposure to X-rays or gamma rays, defined by the amount of ionization produced in air. One röntgen corresponds to the generation of 2.58 × 10⁻⁴ coulombs of charge per kilogram of air. This unit is largely superseded by the gray (Gy) and sievert (Sv) in modern dosimetry.
