Rad

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009800

A non-SI unit of absorbed dose of ionizing radiation, representing the energy deposited per unit mass of irradiated material. One rad is equivalent to 0.01 joules of energy absorbed per kilogram of mass. This unit has largely been superseded by the gray (Gy) in the International System of Units, where 1 Gy equals 100 rad.
