Dose equivalent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003396
A quantity for comparing the biological effect of different ionizing radiations, obtained by multiplying the absorbed dose by a quality factor, which depends on the type and energy of the radiation, and by any further modifying factor. It is expressed in sieverts, where 1 Sv equals 1 J/kg. The later quantity equivalent dose replaces the quality factor with a radiation weighting factor.
