Sulfonphthaleins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011568
A class of organic compounds characterized by a central carbon atom bonded to two phenol rings and a sulfonyl group, which is part of a cyclic structure. These compounds are derivatives of phthaleins and exhibit color changes with variations in pH, making them useful as acid-base indicators. Bromothymol blue and phenol red are common examples of sulfonphthaleins.
