Tolerance limit

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012100

A specified upper or lower bound of a property or characteristic of an item, process, or service, which defines the acceptable range for a measurement result. Values falling outside this range indicate non-conformity with the requirements. For example, a specification for a chemical product might state a purity of 99.5% with a tolerance limit of ±0.2%, meaning any result between 99.3% and 99.7% is acceptable.
