Tolerogen

A substance that induces immunological tolerance, meaning it suppresses an immune response rather than activating it. This occurs when the immune system is exposed to an antigen under specific conditions that lead to unresponsiveness. Tolerogens are distinct from immunogens, which typically elicit an active immune response.
