Validation set

A subset of data used to evaluate the performance of a machine learning model during its development, after it has been trained on a separate training set. This set allows for tuning hyperparameters and making decisions about model architecture without overfitting to the training data. The validation set is distinct from the test set, which is reserved for final model evaluation.
