Zero-order kinetics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012804
A reaction rate where the rate of a process is independent of the concentration of the reactant. This means the substance is eliminated or metabolized at a constant amount per unit of time, regardless of how much is present. Alcohol metabolism in humans often follows zero-order kinetics at higher concentrations.
