Ball
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000396
A spherical component used in mechanical systems to transmit loads, provide a rolling contact point, or act as a valve element. In ball bearings, hardened steel or ceramic balls roll between two rings, or races, to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. Ball valves use a perforated, pivoting ball to control the flow of a fluid or gas through a passageway.
