Puddle ball

A mass of wrought iron produced during the puddling process, where molten pig iron is decarburized in a reverberatory furnace. The iron, as it purifies, becomes pasty and is gathered into a spongy ball by the puddler. This ball contains slag inclusions and requires further working.
