Caliper

A component of a disc brake system that houses the brake pads and pistons. When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure forces the pistons to push the pads against the rotating brake disc, creating friction to slow or stop the vehicle. Calipers are typically made of cast iron or aluminum.
