Circular needle
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001128
A component in an industrial circular knitting machine that moves vertically within a groove in the machine's cylinder or dial to form fabric loops. Each needle has a hook to catch the yarn and a latch that opens and closes to cast off the old loop and form a new one. The collective action of hundreds or thousands of these needles, controlled by cams, produces a continuous tube of knitted fabric.
