A protective device in an electrical circuit that automatically disconnects power when an overload or fault occurs. It consists of a fuse link held under tension by a spring-loaded mechanism, which releases and opens the circuit upon melting of the fuse. These devices are commonly used in overhead power distribution systems to isolate faulty sections and prevent widespread outages.
