Dendrite
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001653
A tree-like crystal structure that forms during the solidification of molten metal, characterized by a central stalk and branching arms. These structures develop as the metal cools and solidifies from a liquid state. The size and morphology of dendrites influence the mechanical properties of the cast material, with finer dendrites generally indicating better strength.
