Ledeburite

A eutectic mixture of austenite and cementite that forms in iron-carbon alloys containing more than 2.06% carbon, such as cast iron. It is a hard and brittle constituent that solidifies directly from the liquid phase. Ledeburite is a characteristic microstructure found in white cast iron, contributing to its high hardness and wear resistance.
