Diverter
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001769
The switch in an on-load transformer tap changer that carries the load current while the tap selector steps to the next winding tap. It briefly bridges two adjacent taps through a diverter impedance, so the output voltage changes without interrupting the load. The tap selector chooses the next tap first, and the diverter switch then makes the transfer.
