Draw frame
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001844
A machine in textile manufacturing that blends and straightens slivers of fiber, such as cotton or wool, to improve their uniformity before spinning. Multiple slivers are fed together into a system of rollers, each rotating faster than the one before it, which drafts the material into a single, thinner sliver of a consistent weight per unit length. This process, known as doubling and drafting, aligns the fibers and reduces thickness variations.
