Earing

The formation of wavy or irregular edges on a deep-drawn cup or shell, resulting from anisotropic properties of the sheet metal. This phenomenon indicates variations in the material's resistance to deformation in different directions. Earing is typically measured as the height difference between peaks and valleys along the rim.
