The spatial arrangement and orientation of mineral grains, rock fragments, or other components within a rock body. This structural characteristic results from geological processes such as crystallization, deformation, or sedimentation, influencing the rock's mechanical properties and permeability. Fabric can be isotropic, where components are randomly oriented, or anisotropic, showing preferred alignment.
