Conoscopic

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001308

Relating to the observation of interference patterns produced by polarized light passing through a birefringent crystal when viewed in convergent light. This technique is used to determine the optical properties of anisotropic materials, such as the optic axis orientation and birefringence. Conoscopic figures are typically observed using a polarizing microscope.
