Isochromatic

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007059

Describing a phenomenon in optics where areas of equal color appear in a polarized light field, often observed when transparent materials are under stress. These colored fringes indicate regions of uniform principal stress difference within the material. Isochromatic patterns are analyzed in photoelasticity to visualize stress distributions in mechanical components.
