Goring

A triangular or wedge-shaped piece of fabric inserted into a garment or other textile item to add width, fullness, or a specific shape. This technique is often used in skirts, dresses, and sails to create a flared silhouette or to allow for a wider circumference at the hem or edge. The number and placement of gores influence the drape and movement of the finished product.
