A contingency amount included in a project budget or schedule to cover unforeseen events, risks, or scope changes. This allocated reserve, also known as a contingency allowance, provides a buffer to absorb unexpected costs or delays without requiring a complete project re-plan. Fallback amounts are calculated based on risk analysis and are expressed as a percentage of the total project cost, often ranging from 5% to 15%.
