Base sheet

The bottom-most layer of a built-up or modified bitumen roofing system, installed directly over the roof deck or insulation. It provides the primary waterproofing barrier and serves as the foundation for subsequent plies of roofing felt and bitumen. Base sheets are manufactured from materials like fiberglass or polyester mat and are coated with asphalt.
