Gunning transceiver logic
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002691
A single-ended, open-drain signaling standard for fast chip-to-chip links and backplanes, in which signals swing between about 0.4 and 1.2 volts around a 0.8 volt reference. Lines are terminated to a 1.2 volt supply, and the small swing allows high speed with modest power and noise. It is not a differential standard such as LVDS, and GTL was used on the Pentium Pro and later Intel front-side buses.
