Iris

A mechanical diaphragm with an adjustable aperture used to control the amount of light passing through a lens in cameras and optical systems. The iris is made of overlapping blades that open or close to change the diameter of the central opening. Its aperture size is specified by an f-number, where a smaller f-number corresponds to a larger opening and more light exposure.
