A metamorphic rock primarily composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. It forms from the metamorphism of limestone or dolostone under intense heat and pressure. Marble is valued for its aesthetic qualities and is widely used as a building material, for sculpture, and in decorative applications.
