Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007097

The curved surface of a liquid in a narrow tube or container, formed due to surface tension and the adhesive or cohesive forces between the liquid and the container walls. A concave meniscus occurs when the liquid wets the surface, while a convex meniscus forms when the liquid does not. This curvature affects accurate volume readings in laboratory glassware.
