Oversite
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004092
A layer of material, such as hardcore or gravel, spread and compacted over the ground within the footprint of a building before the ground floor slab is cast. This layer provides a level base, distributes loads, and acts as a capillary break to prevent moisture from rising from the ground into the structure. The oversite concrete is the slab of concrete poured directly on top of this prepared sub-base.
