QPQ
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004610
A specialized type of salt bath nitrocarburizing, an abbreviation for Quench Polish Quench, that improves the surface properties of ferrous metals. The process involves an initial nitrocarburizing cycle, followed by mechanical polishing, and then a final re-oxidation step to create a durable, corrosion-resistant black finish. This treatment produces a compound layer on the surface that increases hardness and lubricity, with corrosion resistance that can exceed that of hard chrome plating.
