A highly refined kerosene-based rocket propellant, used as fuel in many liquid-propellant rocket engines. It is a hydrocarbon fuel with a specific gravity of approximately 0.81, offering a good balance of density and performance. RP-1 is often combined with liquid oxygen as an oxidizer in launch vehicles like the Falcon 9.
