Salient pole
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005034
A type of pole construction in rotating electrical machines where the pole pieces project outwards from the rotor or stator core. This design creates distinct magnetic poles that are physically prominent, allowing for easier winding and better heat dissipation. Salient pole rotors are commonly found in slower-speed synchronous machines like hydro-generators.
