Seam allowance

The area between the raw edge of fabric and the stitching line in sewn items. This margin provides material for joining fabric pieces and prevents the seam from unraveling. Standard seam allowances vary depending on the project and fabric type, often ranging from 1/4 inch to 5/8 inch.
