Sialic

Relating to igneous rocks and magmas rich in silica and alumina, the primary components of feldspar and quartz. The term, derived from the chemical symbols Si (silicon) and Al (aluminum), characterizes the composition of the Earth's upper continental crust. Sialic rocks, such as granite, have a lower density, around 2.7 g/cm³, compared to the denser simatic rocks of the oceanic crust.
