Intersertal

Describing a textural arrangement in igneous rocks where the spaces between larger, earlier-formed crystals are filled by a network of smaller, later-crystallized minerals, often glass. This texture is common in volcanic rocks where rapid cooling prevents the complete crystallization of all components. It indicates a two-stage cooling history.
