Interrupting time
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003062
The total time duration from the initiation of a fault in an electrical system to the complete cessation of current flow by a protective device. This period includes the sensing time of the relay and the mechanical operating time of the circuit breaker. Interrupting times are often measured in cycles of the AC waveform, such as 3-cycle or 5-cycle breakers.
