Describing igneous rocks that are rich in lighter elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminum, sodium, and potassium. These rocks are typically light in color and have a relatively low density. Common felsic minerals include quartz, muscovite, orthoclase, and plagioclase feldspar, forming rocks like granite and rhyolite.
