Thread

A helical ridge formed on the external or internal surface of a cylindrical or conical object, designed to engage with a corresponding thread on another component. Threads are used for fastening, such as on screws and nuts, or for transmitting power, as in lead screws. Common thread forms include V-threads and square threads.
