Through-hole technology, a method of assembling electronic components by inserting their leads through holes in a printed circuit board and soldering them to pads on the opposite side. This technique creates a strong mechanical bond and is often used for larger or heavier components. It contrasts with surface-mount technology (SMT), which places components directly onto the board's surface.
