Whirlpooling
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006585
A process in brewing where wort is rapidly circulated in a vessel after boiling to create a vortex, causing solid particles like trub (coagulated proteins and hop residue) to settle into a cone at the center. This separation technique clarifies the wort before cooling and fermentation. The whirlpool typically lasts for 15 to 30 minutes.
