Whipstitch

A simple, overcast sewing stitch used to join two edges of material, such as leather, canvas, or heavy fabric. The needle passes through both pieces of fabric, looping over the edges to create a strong, if not always decorative, seam. This technique is applied in the repair of industrial textiles like tarps, conveyor belts, and agricultural sacks.
