Backdated liability insurance

A liability insurance policy that provides coverage for claims arising from incidents that occurred prior to the policy's effective date. This type of coverage is typically arranged to address a known or anticipated past liability for which no prior insurance existed or was adequate. It is distinct from claims-made policies, which cover claims reported during the policy period regardless of when the incident occurred.
