Collapse additional coverage

An addition to a standard property insurance policy that provides coverage for loss resulting from the abrupt falling down or caving in of a building or any part of it. For coverage to apply, the structure must be rendered unusable. This coverage is specifically defined and limited to certain named perils, such as hidden decay, hidden insect or vermin damage, or defective construction materials, and excludes settling, cracking, or bulging that does not lead to an actual collapse.
