Acceptance of service

A formal acknowledgment by a defendant or their attorney that they have received legal documents, such as a summons and complaint, thereby waiving the need for formal service by a process server. This act confirms that the defendant has been properly notified of the lawsuit. It is often used to expedite the legal process and avoid the costs of formal service.
