Substituted service

A method of delivering legal documents to a party when personal service is impractical or impossible. This form of service, also known as constructive service, typically involves leaving the documents with a responsible person at the defendant's residence or place of business, or by mail. It must be reasonably calculated to give the defendant notice of the action.
