Alternate beneficiary

An individual or entity designated to receive assets or benefits if the primary beneficiary is unable or unwilling to do so. This designation provides a contingency plan in wills, trusts, and insurance policies. The alternate beneficiary steps in if the primary beneficiary predeceases the grantor or disclaims the inheritance.
