Donee beneficiary

A third party who benefits from a contract made between two other parties, where the primary purpose of the contract is to confer a gift upon that third party. The donee beneficiary has legal rights to enforce the contract, even though they were not a direct party to its formation. An example is a life insurance policy where the insured names a beneficiary.
