Amended pleading

A revised legal document filed in a court case that modifies or replaces an earlier pleading, such as a complaint, answer, or counterclaim. This allows parties to correct mistakes, add new facts, or change legal theories after the initial filing. Rules of civil procedure, such as Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 15, govern the conditions under which pleadings may be amended.
